Sympathy to all fellow English folk for whom this heatwave feels like an actual illness — especially hyper-mobile friends; I imagine that (like me) you just have to remain as near horizontal as possible until it eases off. I managed to remain upright long enough to water the herbs and veggies and flowers in pots, then crashed out again.
It's supposedly easing off toward the end of the week.
😓 😵💫 😬
Meanwhile, keep up the electrolytes, especially the sodium.
Sending hugs to you Pen, so far we’ve faired better being up North xx
ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky that being on the coast we almost always have a breeze. One year when the weather was similar I remember going inland shopping to Tunbridge Wells, and I was shocked by how stultifying it was with the sun bouncing off all the buildings and no sea breeze.
DeleteAlso our house has the Hollington stream running along just past the foot of our garden, and its banks are lined with mature trees. Between them, the sea breeze and the stream and the trees make such a difference.
Our cat Clarence is coming in to be fed, and spending the night indoors mostly lying in the floor, but during the day he goes over the fence and chills out among the plants along the edge of the stream, which is where I think he used to live before he moved in with us.
Your Clarence sounds like a lovely fur friend. There was a warm gentle breeze yesterday and three loads of laundry were lined up dried in quick succession. The heat isn’t normal though and climate predictions are pretty dire. Despite this the powers that be across the globe are not working together with America being the worst culprit.
ReplyDeleteWell done for getting all that laundry through! That was resourceful! Last night we had a thunderstorm and heavy rain — the air's so fresh this morning.
