For your prayer, if you will xx

Dear friends I would be glad of a stove installation prayer.  Tomorrow (Monday 6th – the feast of the Epiphany), our friend and master builder Terry hopes to install Komorebi’s woodstove.  He needs a dry day!!!

Anyone living in England reading that may respond simply “Hahahahahaha – in your dreams!”  Because here it has rained and rained and rained until the rivers are overflowing and houses and trees have toppled in the storms.

Now I know the issues people have about things like praying for parking spaces – all the objections; trivializing prayer, why should God bother with your parking space in a world where children die of hunger etc etc, and I do understand those objections.  But even in a world of terror and sorrow, I am a parking-space-pray-er.   If you are not, please pass hastily on by this particular post - but take your scepticism with you all wrapped up tidy in your own mind just as a kindness.

If you are a person into praying for such detail, then I ask you of your charity – please will you pray that tomorrow Terry will have whatever he needs of time, light, energy, weather, commodities and equipment, to get that little woodstove safely into Komorebi.

He is also putting in an air vent, a carbon monoxide detector and alarm and a fire alarm, even though I said “Aaaaaaaaagh!  Noooooo!” he said I had to not only have them but keep the batteries in them or he wouldn’t do it at all.   So be it.

This past patch of time, with all the extra social and relational interaction and stressors of the holiday season (even though we in our household observe only the scant minimum so as not to hurt or exclude anyone) I have been teetering on the edge of being ill, and my soul so craves the peace of that little quiet place we are making.

In the days following Christmas, the Badger has worked hard in all weathers in his workshop shed (right next to Komorebi) crafting a beautiful set of shelves to fit the space exactly.  Those are in now, and everything tucks away simply and perfectly.   And we drove across to Gillingham in Kent to pick up a rocking chair I got on eBay for the lowest possible price – for you to sit on by the stove when you come to visit with me in Komorebi J

It would just mean a lot to me to have the woodstove in and really be able to begin.  I’d be so grateful for your prayers. xx

  6. Pen: I am such a pray-er . One who pleads for the "big" things and certainly requests for the others, as well. I trust His discernment to meet needs, "large" or "not-so-large" in His sovereignty, mercy, grace, wisdom, kindness, etc. So I most gladly prayed that your need would be met as He would will.

Hoping your little Komorebi will soon be all complete.

  7. Pen, I truly believe that we should have no hesitation in asking our heavenly Father for help when needed, even if our requests may seem trivial to us or others. Isn't this part of having a full relationship with Him? That we can ask Him to be part of every aspect of our lives?
So, of course I will pray for a special blessing on the weather in your area.
I also have had a stressful incident over the New Year (not related to the festivities though) and I have had uncomfortable physical & mental repercussions because of it. So I do understand how you feel. I'll also pray for God's peace to descend on you.

  9. Nothing is too difficult for our Heavenly Father. I pray that He augmetns human efforts & skills with what humans CAN'T do...and additionally grant His peace that transcends any circumstance, disappointment, weather report or reality, and our ability to understand it!

I'm as excited for The Occupancy as if it were my own!

  10. The last two times I prayed about a stove installation I was also right-hand-man in installing the stoves. It has been a joy to pray for Terry's best-of-everything in installing yours.
A stove is an occasion of joy and an abiding blessing!!

  11. I hoe your stove gets in smoothly. Life is hard. Beauty matters.
This season has almost done me in, too. We are about to be engulfed in a Arctic cold wave.

  20. A couple of short heavy showers today, but dry and windy - even occasionally sunny - for the most part today, and not cold.
Terry worked at astonishing speed, and with his usual admirable skill, to get the stove in. Tomorrow he comes back to grout the tiles on the hearth and finish said heart with a wooden trim, then we're in business. The stove was tried out and found to work perfectly - making Komorebi nicely warm but not suffocatingly hot; chimney drawing brilliantly. Hooray! Thanks so much for your prayers, my friends xxxx

  21. So happy for you! Terry sounds wonderful.

I feared the worst as the weather forecast for your area didn't look good.

  22. I am really thrilled, Pen! God is good, right? It is just perfect. I could have used a retreat like that today. God bless your coming and going.
