Something I missed out ...

… when I was showing you my room the other day.

On top of the bench/table the Badger made is where I normally keep folded the prayer shawl Rebecca knitted for me.

It is something wonderful. It has the colours of her home at Hopewell in it, and also something you cannot see – the intentions she knitted into it.

She knitted poems and philosophy and all kinds of wisdom in. She sent me the words she carried in her heart while she was making it. Some of them are from poets who lock down their texts with fiercely guarded copyright so I can’t share them here – but there is the wisdom of Rumi, Mary Oliver, T.S. Eliot, the Hopi Elders, the Tao, Dorothy Walters, A Course in Miracles, Emily Dickinson, and Rebecca’s own poetry – all knitted in to the fabric of my prayer mantle.

It sits there on its altar sending out wisdom as a clean and holy fragrance.

Thank you, Rebecca.

Hi Penelope
Happy New Year! I just thought of you in connection to your prayer shawl. Something you might find beneficial are weighted therapy blankets. They are like a comforter/duvet filled with specially made heavy beads. We use them at the center where I work, they are available from many sources. A client once told me that source she had found up online said that the lady who makes them puts in bible versus for the recipient (that reminded me of your prayer shawl). They are very grounding and comforting and come in lap pad and throw blanket sizes. My clients put them on their laps during our sessions (I work as a mental health therapist), and during the mindfulness meditation that I incorporate into our sessions. I use weight in my yoga therapy practice as well heavy blankets and sandbags, and appreciate their effect. Unfortunately the blankets are expensive, probably due to the patented beads and heaviness to ship, but maybe you could find someone who makes them there?
happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you, too. May 2016 be full of blessing.
What an interesting therapy resource - I can immediately see how helpful many people would find it. Thank you for describing the blankets! x
