Another minimalist Japanese life

I've been really enjoying the videos Rhea Y posts on her YouTube channel — I love the one about a day in her life (which has a brilliant breakfast fail moment in it).

so interesting. that is one tiny apartment. it seemed claustrophobic but, really, how much space does one person need? some outdoor space like a balcony or patio would make it better. what really surprised me when i watched the 'day in the life' video was how western her meals were. white toast, lots of dairy? i wonder how typical that is of young japanese. and who knew there were 7-elevens in japan?

Yes, I have been surprised by the westernised meals in her videos and those of another young Japanese woman whose videos I enjoy, Toko (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX_nalhCljdSRS1j35NphYA). Rhea (the one in my blog post) actually comes from the Philippines and is just living in Japan, but the same still applies (about western food). Also, the amount of processed and refined food. I felt concerned for her health as time unfolds, but fascinated by the everyday detail of life in Japan — the kitchen, her washing machine, the bathroom . . . It's the same in Toko's videos, an intriguing glimpse of life in Japan.

i realised that she wasn't japanese when she got out her textbook to practise her kanji. yes, all that processed food! it was a bit horrifying. there are links to other 'housewife' sites, one in korea that i like as well, so now i am truly hooked. all those fascinating details lure me in. 'i'll just watch one more', i say to myself. an hour later . . . ...

Ooh! That's new to me! Hooray for YouTube! I live these simple, homely, uneventful, calm videos. All us recluses and HSPs can reconnect and enjoy the power of story without being overwhelmed. Result!
