Odd similarity

I realized today – while I was cleaning my teeth – that the dress code for a Methodist Local Preacher leading worship is exactly the same as for afternoon tea at the Ritz. Just saying.

No jeans, no sportswear, no trainers. Trousers allowed for women, but must be smart. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie. As the Fortnum and Mason afternoon tea dress code puts it, 'leaning toward elegance'. Same as Local Preachers.

I would never have thought of it. When I go to my home Anglican church the priests where robes. When we go close to home it is a Baptist church and the clothing ranges from jeans and shirts with boots for me and formal to something similar for women. Elegance is wonderful but the average Queensland Aussie isn't elegant often. It is too darn hot. I pulled out my best dress for a concert tomorrow night and cringed. It is lined and I will be hot but for this occasion dressing nicely is a must.

Whoops the dress code that ends in me should read the male pastors. I survived the concert and thanked the Lord for those who invent, improve and maintain climate control.
