The Beautiful Thread is now published in our Humilis Hastings imprint
In which we meet Brother Conradus's mother.
It's here on US Amazon, here on Amazon UK, and will also be available worldwide in whatever is the branch of Amazon for your country — either as Kindle e-book or a paperback.
Please forward to Penelope Wilcock if this doesn't reach her directly. Thank you Dear Penelope I want to express my appreciation, having just finished reading the whole Hawk and Dove series. A friend alerted me to the continuation of the series last year and so I re-started at Book 4. Then went back to 1 – 3 in the last few weeks, which I first read in 1992 as they came out! I have loved them – the depth of insight and warmth of relationships – everything that is good about the Christian faith journey. Over the years I’ve passed them onto many people - keeping 2 sets in the ‘90’s - one to give away and one to hold on to! Someone I see for Spiritual Direction at the moment takes the next one away with her every time she comes! Very much looking forward to the next one! With warmest greetings and thankfulness for the gift God has given you. Sue
Such encouragement! Thank you so much, Sue, for your kindness in taking the trouble to come here and leave this message. It lifts my spirits and makes me happy. I hope the stories will bless you and support you in making your own faith journey — and your spiritual director too. ❤️ x Pen
Hiya. In Series Two, the first book is 'This Brother of Yours', the second is 'Brother Cyril's Book', and the third is 'A Path of Serious Happiness'. All those are available on Amazon, and in the right-hand sidebar on this blog there are links to all of them. Or if you search on 'A Path of Serious Happiness Penelope Wilcock' on whichever Amazon serves your location, you will quickly find it.
The only book we have yet to publish is the last (ninth) in Series One — 'A Day and a Life'. That will be published at some point in the next two or three weeks (I hope), and I'll post about it here on my blog when it's available.
I have another work in progress, and will resume writing it after we move house at the end of this week.
Thank you for your interest and for asking about it. xx
Dear Pen, I don't know if you've heard, but if not, thought you might want to know that our dear Emma (who introduced me to your books) has entered eternal rest. She was suddenly diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer after a month-long bout of bronchitis, a couple of weeks ago. Last time we talked, she expressed herself ready, like St Paul, either to stay or go as God pleased, but said she did so want to see Jesus. And now she is.
Oh, Isolde! Oh my goodness! Thank you so very much for having the kindness to come here and let me know. I knew how ill Emma was, because she wrote and told me of the diagnosis, and we have been praying for her every day. On the one hand it feels like a sword through the heart, but on the other hand I feel relieved that she didn't have to suffer months and months of long gruelling treatments. She was such a courageous, shining soul. May all who loved her be comforted and upheld. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
You're welcome! I'm glad you knew, and I know she appreciated everybody's prayers. It's very bittersweet for us, isn't it? We have joy for her, but we miss her so much. Our brave girl! She made me so much braver just in the two years we really knew each other. She doesn't need to be brave anymore (about time she got to take a break), but she goes on shining.
I got to go to her funeral on Friday. She'd planned it out and chosen everything very carefully, and it was beautiful. A handful of other friends from our internet circle were there, and so we were meeting and hugging (and laughing and crying with) people we already knew but had never met, and in some cases never seen the faces of, and it felt like a foretaste of Heaven. And I got to tell many of her people thank you, in person, which otherwise (I live very far away) I never could have done.
I'll try to make this look enough unlike a link that it doesn't get sent to spam, but she's got a second funeral tomorrow, and on the chance you wanted to send flowers or something, here's the information: pierschbacherfuneralhome (dot) com (slash) obituaries (slash) Emma-Flournoy?obId=43612322

Hello Pen,
