Squid Juice

This is my third attempt at writing and entitling a blog post.  The first was mournful and self-pitying, the second peevish and defensive, laying blame on others for problems originating squarely with me.

In our house we have a phrase, “squid-juicing”.  Squids, as you no doubt know, emit clouds of inky stuff when they feel threatened (at least, I think they do; I don’t think I made that up . . .).   Some people pull a very similar trick.   When they feel guilty or low or out of their depth – even, sometimes, just bored – they start emitting evil negative stuff – sarky remarks, grumbling, complaining, criticising: none of it justified, just squid-juicing.  I do that.  Today I’m on that trip.  Again.  Hush, Ember.  Read a book or something.  Spare human society your company.  Tiptoe away.

Squid juicing? I'll remember that for next time I'm having one of those days. Praying tomorrow is better.

Squid ink is a good smokescreen ~ make a rapid retreat! The people that know and love you will know to take the opportunity to make a quick escape.

I got rid of a months worth of stuff this weekend, two pair of too small figure skates, 5 casserole dishes, a child sized rocking chair, a Disney princess computer that teaches phonograms and a lady from FreeCycle came and culled my scrapbooking supplies. She took paper, punches, stickers, embossing stuff, markers a storage unit and a Sizzix personal cutter that I got as a gift several years ago and have NEVER used. Yeah for less stuff!

Woohooo that Julie! Way to go, girl!

I think yesterday must have been a global Squid juice day, then. I know in my household there were at least four out of five that felt that way. Today, however the water seems clearer.
Hope you have a better day today too. :)

Yes, today feels quite different! Blessings on your day :0)

This is entirely off subject {sorry!} but, I wondered whether you knew if your Joy Of Living Simply might be made available on kindle?

And as a p.s, I love you Hawk and the Dove series. Just fabulous.

:0) Thank you Amy! So glad you are enjoying the Hawk & the Dove books. I'll check with the publisher about the simplicity book and get back to you.

Publisher has come back to me to say they are publishing all new books for Kindle, and are working through the back list to get everything out as an e-book. In Celebration of Simplicity is a bit tricky to publish in e-book format because of the layout, but he says it can be done and it will certainly appear as an e-book in due course.

Oh wonderful! I'd like to get it but am in a situation a bit like yourself- been decluttering the bookshelves and find buying on kindle is less cumbersome to the house (and husband) {wink} Do let me know when they get it ready? I'd love to read it.

Must say, Amy, one of the reason's I loved the Simplicity book was the feel, layout and general atmosphere of the book. Might be worth batting the eyelids at the husband, gifting a few other traditional style books and justify this one in the 'old' format. :)

Yes, I can imagine it going a bit pear-shaped transferring into e-format too - I find reading my Kindle that some books, especially those with inset text boxes, come out rather strange.
Maybe take a look at it on Amazon's search-inside function and see what you think.
And, thanks Penny :0)
