Perspicacious - a dear friend who I call Moses as he looks like I imagine the Biblical man would have - first used that word in my hearing 30 years ago. I have loved it since, I like to roll it around as I say it., Now, this turn of events is interesting...I hope you are enjoying lovely summer weather and that your vegetables are growing well. We had home grown broccoli with dinner, and my Green Tomato Chutney with the sausages from the local market. So delicious.

Hi Cate — sausages and chutney made a perfect combination!
Our garden is coming along well; the apples are rapidly increasing in size, the pole beans are in flower, the courgettes are almost ready to start harvesting, the potatoes are in flower, the tomatoes are beginning to fruit, and the plums will be ripe in a few weeks. The crows ate ALL our cherries, and we tried not to mind. We had some nice blackcurrants anyway, and Hebe and Alice made delicious blackcurrant curd which is lovely on ice cream.
Does your home grown broccoli have caterpillars, or do you just try not to look too hard?

Hi. Your garden sounds happy and prolific. I am not certain that I would feel so kindly towards the crows - cherries are SO good. No, the broccoli is caterpillar free but we had so many radishes that I let the critters have a few. I made relish with the radishes too but it isn't a family favourite.

I wrote down this quote a few years ago when my life became all about home. "The ordinary acts we practise every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest." Thomas More

I think this ties in so well with your comments at the end about how a day can be filled with these home duties.

I'm definitely with Merton on that!
