Yes. May they be safe, may they be blessed, may the hosts of God come to their aid, may those who have given themselves as agents of Mammon be a stilled storm held firm in peace and light.

It is so heartbreaking and no human should be treated thus. Sadly though man is not a humane creature it seems. I agree with your prayer Pen.

Hi friends,

In response to this post, Victoria Pendleton commented to say, did anyone else sing in school the protest song by English Roman Catholic musician, teacher and at-that-time religious sister Estelle White, with the first line "There's a world where people come and go".

Victoria kindly supplied all the words to the song, but as Estelle White's songs are still under copyright (with McCrimmon Publishing Co Ltd), I'm not sure it's okay to put them here. It was in the "Celebration Hymnal for Everyone" that came out in 1994.

Thank you so much, Victoria for sending the words to the song, I can see why they came to mind! I'm so sorry not to put them online here, especially as I can't find them anywhere else to link to.

Estelle White wrote some brilliant songs, didn't she! x

Oops, sorry! I didn’t even think about a hymn having copy right. It’s a a good thing you thought of it. I went to an all girls Catholic school, and we would sing the best hymns. They are all stuck in my head to this day just waiting to come to mind at the right moment haha

I remember, at the beginning of the 1970s, when the influence of Pope John 23rd from the early 60s had filtered through into parish life, the nuns accompanying those lovely songs on their guitars at folk masses — Sister Pat and Sister Veronica at the home for disabled people where I worked weekends and holidays. Very vivid.
