Intriguing eBay

I often come across eBay listings that make me pause in a search and look at them with a kind of boggling wonder.

Like this outfit.

"Casual party" the accompanying legend describes it, and yes — as parties go it does look as though it would be on the casual end of the spectrum. Deconstructed to the max.

And then there are some people in Jaipur who have chosen an unusual mannequin to display their wares. Here she is.

Goodness me!

It's always helpful to see how a kurta will look look when it's on, but even so I think there are times when simply laying it out on the floor would be advisable.

They clearly don't share my view, but prefer to press on with their mannequin.

Her face has a hurt, stoical, enduring expression that says it all.  And the kurta? That, too . . .

Well, I expect they did their best.

I actually like the first shirt! Not my thing personally but I think it is pretty cool. I do own two items that are backless and wear them in a casual setting mostly I much prefer it to having something that is low cut "in front" so to speak. It is a bit of unexpected fun design-wise but perhaps not the most practical in the winter but I only wear them during the warmer periods.

Greta — heheh — yes.

Hi Elin — low cut front or back — interesting choice to think about!

Absolutely nothing low cut for me thankyou very much!

Not the front, not the back, not the knees?

Nope...nothing. Only head and hands poke from my attire! Dx

Heheh — yes, me too! Though I do roll my sleeves up to do the housework.

So funny! Makes me feel very old and irrelevant...

Yes, eBay is full of surprises. One of my favourites that comes round every now and then, in descriptions of second-hand clothing, is the ominous remark: "Warn once."
Many of the things that make me laugh arise from spelling mistakes. Sometimes I get told off for laughing at people's spelling gaffes, because they can't help it or have dyslexia or it's their computer's spell-checker or whatever — and I know, I know; but I still think it's funny.

Those sure are some interesting finds, Pen. ;)

I'd feel like I was going to fall out of that top shirt the whole time...and I don't get this ragged/ratty jeans thing, but is sure is popular at the college where I work.

But, yeah, I keep my thoughts to myself unless specifically asked. I figure it is sort of like art. Some I get, some I don't...but that doesn't mean I have a right to tell people what is good art or bad art.

I think so, too. Clothes are an art form, meant for self-expression like all art. Too much conformity is stifling. Even so, some art forms are better suited to public space than others . . .

Ha! So TRUE! (oh, you make me laugh!)
